More Camp Coleman Fun

Ethan B. and Henry in Helen, GA during a pizza/adult sanity excursion.

Now I know the parties responsible for the front ponytail.

Henry will never lack for female companionship.

A proud moment. I sent her this shirt. The platypus is undoubtedly Adele's spirit animal.

What's Going On?

At Camp Coleman...

That cute, but sneering, girl is my son.

I'll be back there on Wednesday, find out for myself.

Friendly Gardener (?)

He is friendly, sometimes.

This was sent by friend Keith S. with the caption "Friendly Gardener", who I met at the dog park. I can date this from the sunglasses, shoes, condition of the t-shirt. The sunglasses are long gone, and were superseded by another pair, now gone, and replaced by the current pair. Th shirt, although sill in my possession, is stained and ragged. The shoes are still in my possession, but have been relegated to the closet, and replaced with the current pair on my feet right now.

My plantings at the dog park have been a frustrating endeavor, losing many plants to both animal activity (forgivable) and human maliciousness. There are several "characters" who hang out there and believe the place belongs to them, and one individual with an aggressive little dog who threatened me when I defended myself. Still, many of the trees are growing well, and are beyond needing me to care for them, so it is a mixed bag.

What Is Actually There?

Today I saw that when looking inside, it is necessary to look at what is actually there, deeply, and without judging, instead of what we wish or imagine is there. What Is Actually There? Look.

Susan & Barry

At Camp Coleman on Friday night.

Why is he smiling? He doesn't know that on 6/19/08 he will have to try and fix his mother's computer!

Over the phone!

In person!

Over the phone again!

In person again!

And, finally...

Over the phone!

The conclusion:

"Your computer is too old. It won't do what you want. You have to buy a new one."

Flying Home from Georgia

The new Panasonic FZ18 has a scene mode setting specifically designed for taking photos from of airplane windows. I like it.

Appalachian Storm

Last night rolling in, seven miles north of Cleveland, Georgia:

Adele & Henry at Camp Coleman

I'm home for two weeks by myself while family camps at Camp Coleman in the North Georgia mountains, the bottom end of the ancient Appalacians. Here are two temporary Appalachians:

Funnel Cloud, Tornado, Water Spout

I left the house at 12:30 this afternoon to get the oil changed in the van before we make a long road journey to Cleveland, GA tomorrow morning. I looked in my rear view mirror and saw this:

It's a water spout that may or may not have made landfall, but it was impressive. I had the new camera with me and so shot the video. It's been used on one local news program and is also on CNN's iReport site:

Panasonic FZ18

I've been using my new camera, a Panasonic FZ18, learning its ins and outs. I've been experimenting with the 18x zoom, long exposures and high-sensitivity mode:

Rick, and Rick and India

These are from scooter dealer and biodiesel pioneer Rick Hawkins of Athens, GA. His emails often have the header "38 great iPhotos", with some change of digits.

"Wow, Rick, you look great! Have a safe ride back to the group home."

With his daughter India Zerelda, who we have known since her birth. She grew.

Adele graduates...

Adele graduated from 5th Grade today, completing her stint at Virginia Shuman Young Elementary School in Fort Lauderdale.

Proud grandmothers are proud...

Adele with her teacher from the last two years, Mr. Koesten.

Enough with school, now for some kibble.

A Second Grade graduate warms up for kibble with a digit.

Gam Ma A Visits

My childhood friend, referred to in a promotional (junk mail) postcard from "Ross Dress For Less" as "Gam Ma A" came to visit us this weekend, and as usual we were involved in some highly serious activities...

Gary and I were involved in many important meetings, seminars, and conferences throughout the day. Sadly, he is leaving tomorrow, and I must return to my regular duties.
